Like pretty much all the classic rosés of France’s sun-drenched southern coast, this is a blend of Mediterranean grapes of the region, namely grenache, mourvèdre, cinsault, carignan, syrah and vermentino. The result is a familiarly fresh and lifted rosé that sings with soft fruity notes and vibrant acidity. Perfect for a sunny day, just as it was intended.

Handpicked Wines works across regions and in this case, takes us to the Yarra Valley, with a rosé crafted from the region's famous pinot noir. It's a vibrant wine with strawberry and savoury notes on the nose. It's very pinot - savoury and wonderfully textured. This is a rosé that would sing with food.

A pretty and versatile rosé from the Adelaide Hills - the mother-daughter team from Vintage Longbottom have made magic with the wine. Look out for white blossom, rosewater and Turkish delight on the nose, followed by pawpaw, strawberries and red apple on the palate. A well-made wine and super-delish!

From the team at Herència Altés in Terra Alta, who delight us with wonderful wines every year, comes their take on rosé, rosat. This gorgeous bottle of grenache-y goodness goes down a little too easy at times! You’ll notice the variety is ‘garnacha negra’, the Catalan name for the grape we love so much. In a rosé like this, you get all the beautiful berries and cherries, while retaining crisp, refreshing acidity. At home on a table brimming with a Mediterranean feast, or simply in a glass to mark the end of a day, this rosé is sure to please.

Backline is a passion project of three former Wallaby players who caught the wine bug while playing in French rugby teams. According to them, they had the chance to "experience the ‘gourmand’ culture and ‘joie de vivre’ of the French lifestyle". This fruit-forward, dry rosé is joyful indeed - delicious with or without food.

Rosa & Dito is more of an accompaniment to the fun than an attention-grabbing stage-hog, the ideal wine for cracking out on a whim whenever a mate drops by unannounced. The effect is clear. Pouring a few glasses of this says “let’s forget about life for a moment, and give our undivided attention to enjoying the moment and the company of good friends”. If you like your feet in flip-flops, your food eaten with fingers and your rosé crisp, this is the wine for you.
