From the beautiful bottle to the stunning wine, we are very impressed by the Cheeky Tilly riesling by newcomer Barossa Boy. The fruit for this wine is from Eden Valley and displays sherbet and talc on the nose, followed by grapefruit and citrus on the palate. It is bright and lovely, dry and textural with a super-herbaceous, pithy, saline finish. Super interesting, great food wine.

If you’re a lover of riesling, but have ever been put off by the thought of it taking the roof of your mouth off, this one is your jam. It’s a slightly riper style: less of the laser beam acid and more ripe fruit fun. It smells and tastes like a riz, with all that complexity and aromatic charm, while being deliciously easy drinking. There’s lime and sherbet, as standard, then hints of apricot, apple juice, and yellow apple. It’s amazing value and a perfect wine to have on hand for any occasion.

Jeanneret have made a superb young riesling, from a couple of lofty vineyards in Clare. Not a steely citrus taste bud assault, more approachable and friendly. Watch out for grapefruit pith, meyer lemon flesh and white peach, with fresh chopped herbs. It’s fine and clean, with just enough sweetness to do its job with style.

We love Eden producer Brothers At War and it seems that James Halliday does too - giving them 99 points on their 2018 single vineyard grenache! Though this riesling is yet to be rated, but we are sure James will love it as much as we do, for its vibrant fruit, mineral purity and brilliant length. There's classic bright citrus, floral notes and driving acid. Well made by a producer to keep your eye on.

The Barossa Valley’s modern history started with the settlement of German immigrants, making it an ideal place for old vine riesling, the variety that Germany is most renowned for. This one comes from Chateau Tanunda's 100-year old riesling vines and has a nose of lime and ripe stonefruits. The palate continues this thread with lively acidity, a bit of minerality and a refreshing finish. Prost!

The region most famous for riesling in Australia, ah yes, classic Clare Valley! Kirrihill, a winery brought about by two Clare Valley locals who wanted to showcase how fabulous the wines from these vineyards and terroir can be, and this is a classic example. If you love a zesty, aromatic riesling then this we're found the one for you. Fresh, fragrant aromas of that classic citrus and lemongrass. Leaving a dry acidity
