Hello box of delicious red wines!! Our Black Market Red Dozen is back, and it’s here for a good time, not a long time - so best be quick! Made by some of the best South and West Aussie producers, these wicked wines will ensure you have great wines every night of the week, without breaking the budget.

Each pack includes TWO of the following:

Shiraz 2018

McLaren Vale, SA

5 Red Star Halliday Rated Winery

One of our favourite producers is based in one famous Aussie region, but sources some of its wines from others. No, we can’t tell you who they are...it is Black Market after all! But you’ll know the producer just like you know that McLaren Vale shiraz is some of the silkiest, richest, darkest and earthiest of all those from around the country. This one is no different. Incredible shiraz from an incredible region crafted by an incredible producer.

Merlot 2013

Wrattonbully, SA

5 Star Halliday Rated Winery

This producer is a Five Star Halliday Rated Winery, which means they are one of the best. They make wines across a few regions and this is their take on merlot from the small and premium region of Wrattonbully in SA. It’s a polished well-made wine that time has been kind to, with fruit mellowing and tertiary characteristics peaking through. It’s an easy-drinking, soft and approachable wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Wrattonbully, SA

5 Star Halliday Rated Winery

Coonawarra gets all the attention, but Wrattonbully perhaps deserves the same acclaim. It’s only twenty minutes down the road, generally provides better value and has a cooler name in my opinion (just saying’, not that it matters for what’s in the bottle). This cabernet comes from a national producer who works wonders in the region and exhibits all the classic hallmarks of the variety held together by some healthy French oak treatment. On top of all that, it’s already got five years of age, placing it right in its drinking prime.

Grenache 2017

Clare Valley, SA

92pts Halliday Wine Companion | 5 Star Halliday Rated Winery | Hand-picked

Fresh and lively, yet dark and brooding, this Clare Valley red is everything we need to get us through the night. Dating back to 1997 when this wine first started being made, this old-vine grenache is a sentimental one in the producer’s portfolio. Hand-picked and matured for 15 months, the final blend was bottled unfined and unfiltered (vegans rejoice!). With lifted aromas of dark cherries, blood plum, orange zest and tumeric, this wine is better than that dark chocolate bar you have been saving. Textured and savoury, what better than this excellent drop to have with your next dinner.

YOU’D PAY $33 full price.

Shiraz 2017

Pemberton, WA

Dark in the glass, spicy and lifted on the nose, structured and full-bodied on the palate. There’s a lot going on there, but it’s pretty easy drinking as well. Fruit is on the black side, both currant and berry. But there’s some dark chocolate and herbs behind all of that, adding a really nice layer of interest to the wine. On the finish, the tannins are fine and the acid is apparent, making for a versatile food wine no matter the dish.

YOU’D PAY $30 full price.

Cabernet Malbec 2018

Clare Valley, SA

92pts Halliday Wine Companion

This cab-malbec from the Clare shows off a deliciously drinkable, and dare I say fun side to the region. Clare is famous for their deep, dark-fruited and structured reds and while this wine has depth and structure - it also has juicy red berries, floral notes and total smashability. It’s from a producer who don’t take themselves too seriously, making a collection of young-at-heart, but very well-made wines. If you like your cabernet with a bit more richness and fruit power, which malbec certainly delivers, this could be the wine for you.

YOU’D PAY $22 full price.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
