Hello box of delicious red wines!! Our Black Market Red Dozen is back, and it’s here for a good time, not a long time - so best be quick! Made by some of the best South and West Aussie producers, these wicked wines will ensure you have great wines every night of the week, without breaking the budget.
Each pack includes TWO of the following:
Shiraz Cabernet 2019
McLaren Vale, SA
95pts Sam Kim | 95pts Wine Showcase | Five Stars Sam Kim
It’s safe to say this wine is a ‘shoe-in’. Multiple vintages of this exact vino have rushed into our warehouse and zoomed straight back out and to your front door faster than you can say ‘shiraz blended with cab sav and a splash of cab franc’. It’s so SO popular with our thirsty mofo members. At its core, we have all the plush dark berries, plums and chocolatey goodness that you’d expect from Mclaren Vale. But the blend of cabernets is what lifts this drop way above entry level, firm tannins and a liveliness on the back palate provide wonderful length and serious structure; perfect to pair with your good old fashioned Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings.

Margaret River, WA
It seems to toe the line with absolute grace, the old river of Margaret. With the cooler, ocean breeze giving us the ever-growing-in-popularity peppery, lifted shiraz matching up with some serious body, palate weight and primary fruit gorgeousness. This single vineyard shiraz hails from a mofo favourite and although there’s plenty to go around, a deal like this won’t stick around for long. Intriguing mulberry and blackberry jump out of the glass after just a couple of swirls while the palate generates serious body, structure and non-fruit notes of soft vanilla and cedar, testament to its 15 months of bathing in French oak barriques. A soft and subtle peppery finish wraps up this little number in a nice neat little package which completes the gift from you… to you.

Clare Valley, SA
92pts Halliday Wine Companion | 5 Star Halliday Rated Winery | Hand-picked
Fresh and lively, yet dark and brooding, this Clare Valley red is everything we need to get us through the night. Dating back to 1997 when this wine first started being made, this old-vine grenache is a sentimental one in the producer’s portfolio. Hand-picked and matured for 15 months, the final blend was bottled unfined and unfiltered (vegans rejoice!). With lifted aromas of dark cherries, blood plum, orange zest and tumeric, this wine is better than that dark chocolate bar you have been saving. Textured and savoury, what better than this excellent drop to have with your next dinner.
YOU’D PAY $33 full price.
Clare Valley, SA
5 Star James Halliday Rated Winery
Clare Valley shiraz is in a class of its own. It benefits from the ballsy, rich-fruited, adrenaline-pumping charms of South Australia, but retains a bright flash of refreshing acidity thanks to the higher altitude. The resultant wine is fruit-forward and plush, but lighter and brighter and full of herbaceous crunch. There’s something for everyone, then, and a full spectrum of flavour. From tangy blueberries and softly scented raspberries, to summery black cherry and juicy plums. It’s tied together by a gentle peppering of tannin and a gentle kiss of oak.

Pinot Noir Blend 2018
Adelaide Hills, SA
92pts Sam Kim | 4.5 Stars Sam Kim
Everyone knows that the Adelaide Hills region makes ripper pinot noir. But those in-the-know, know that they also excel at cool climate, spicy syrah. In this case, the producer has combined the two, to make a vibrantly wonderful blend. The savouriness from pinot has been blended with the spice from syrah, the elegance of the former and the depth of the latter. The wine has been aged for over a year in barrel before blending and is ready to go. Light to medium-bodied, full of both bright and brooding fruit and a long and savoury finish.
YOU’D PAY $28 full price.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Limestone Coast, SA
94pts Sam Kim | 5 Stars Sam Kim | Single Vineyard
This tasty cabernet straddles both worlds of youthful and serious, from Coonawarra’s little brother region of the Limestone Coast. Drinkability is at the forefront, with just enough tannin structure to make you know it’s cabernet. Black currants, spice and dark herbaceous notes are underscored by licorice and a touch of pepper. Fruit delivers powerfully and with some unexpected mid-palate richness. Long-lasting Limestone Coast goodness right here.
YOU’D PAY $27 full price.
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
