Why do we love this case?

This is SA shiraz, levelled up. There are no ‘quaffers’ here... no Tuesday night smashers. It’s exquisite premium perfection all the way. Six unique examples of what Australia’s favourite grape is capable of. It’s a fantastic exploration of what South Australia does best. They’ll all stand up to time in the cellar if you’re investing in the future. Or, if you’re not one for waiting, give them a runaround in a decanter and they’ll be fighting fit by dinnertime.

Every case contains ONE of each of the following:

Magnus means 'great' in Latin and they were not wrong in naming this powerful and robust wine. Based in Padthaway, which is famous for it's powerful shiraz, Henry's drive have crafted a wonderful wine that is singing at five years old. There's a splash of McLaren Vale juice in this one too, bringing jubey red fruit and great colour. The wine is full of plums, dark cherries and spice from nearly two years in new French oak.

Mofo Fave

Oh sweet Lou, how the ‘Fo loves you! For six vintages running, our Mofo’s have snatched up all the Golden Lion shiraz as fast as we could get it into our warehouse. So where do we go from here? It’s onwards and upwards into the stratosphere of the reserve. For the first time in the history of the ‘Fo, we’ve got the Golden Lion RESERVE shiraz in stock. It’s from the excellent 2017 vintage and feels kinda like welding a jet engine to the back of their regular shiraz. Strap in tight cos it’s gonna be a wild ride. In the glass, the colour is a deep crimson red and there’s lifted aromas of plum, pepper, vanilla and mocha. The palate is full and generous with dark fruits, interwoven spice and savoury tannins. Lou Miranda has included American oak in the ageing regime on this, adding a touch of coconut and further vanilla to the wine. It’s ready to go with a big ole’ steak right now or will happily nap in your cellar for 15 years. This big boy is here for you now and in the future.

This isn't the explosive Barossa shiraz you might expect, rather savoury in style, medium-bodied and altogether rather different to the usual boldness found from SA. Think berries and spice and all things nice (bit of licorice). Give this shiraz a go and discover why we love this small batch producer so much.

Can you hear that, mofos? No? Listen a little harder. There it is. Mitooooloooooo. Such is the universal demand for this wine, that the sound of mofos fervently whispering the name has entered into the cosmos. It’s in the wind, it’s in the dial-up ringtone, in the resonant frequency of empty wineglasses. Glorious, juicy plums, tangy blackberry, char and spices, and super dark chocolate. Sumptuous, succulent mouthfeel to satisfy even thirstiest of mofos. If you’ve never tried it, you’re in for one helluva journey.

This five year old Adelaide Hills shiraz from legendary producer The Lane, is simply the best of both worlds. From a single vineyard in the cool, high region, you get a wine that is both powerful and elegant. There are mouthfuls of dark fruits like black cherry and plum, but with herbal notes, some pepper and a dark chocolate finish. It’s shiraz through and through, but with a little more finesse. Pop this wine in a decanter and watch it unfold with layers of flavour and nuance.
