Why do we love this case?

This is SA shiraz, levelled up. There are no ‘quaffers’ here... no Tuesday night smashers. It’s exquisite premium perfection all the way. Six unique examples of what Australia’s favourite grape is capable of. It’s a fantastic exploration of what South Australia does best. They’ll all stand up to time in the cellar if you’re investing in the future. Or, if you’re not one for waiting, give them a runaround in a decanter and they’ll be fighting fit by dinnertime.

The bottles pictured here do not necessarily reflect the bottle shapes or closures that will be included in this pack. The Vinomofo team is working from home, to help fight against COVID-19 and keep staff safe, so all that cool stuff we use to make things look pretty is back at the office. We reckon that, so long as the wine is good (and it is!) it doesn’t matter too much under the circumstances. Hope you agree!

This blend of grenache shiraz shows us what the McLaren Vale is capable of producing, and certainly what Thistledown is capable of producing! Starting fro the bush trained old vines, the grenache fruit produces low yielding, intense fruit. Once picking commences, it's done gently and carefully to ensure only the best grapes are picked. Then, we get to the winemakers magic, ageing in concrete or french barrels to create that underlying oak flavour. And what's the finished result? A wonderfully vibrant and aromatic wine, featuring all manner of red and black fruits, raspberry, blackcurrant and a touch of allspice.

This delectable shiraz comes from Rosenvale Vineyards, grape growers and makers of great wines for the last 40 years. This particular wine is from the Vine Vale sub-region of the Barossa Valley. After the grapes are picked at perfect ripeness and fermented to dryness, the wine spends a couple of years in new and seasoned French oak barrels. The result is dark and deep, with blueberries, spice and a touch of white pepper on the nose. The palate is full of fine tannins and rich red fruits like cherries and plums.

If you’re a fan of powerful Barossa reds, then here’s a wine for you. From Chateau Tanunda, one of the undisputed best of the Barossa winemaking aristocracy, comes a rich, ripe and powerful shiraz. It’s from the Ebenezer subregion, and after a long growing season (which builds complexity in the grapes), the juice was given the Rolls Royce treatment in the winery. Handled with care, basket-pressed and then sent to relax in only the best quality oak. It’s got all the fruit you could want - plum, blueberries and cranberries - and a lovely lavender and spice too. The oak is there, but simply plays a supporting role to the fruit and adds some tannin. Wow! What a wine!
