Why do we love this case?

This pack of top quality French reds is guaranteed to be a wonderful experience, the kind that will remind you of why you love wine and why spending a bit more on special bottles is worth it. These six bottles are on the more serious end of the spectrum, as you’d expect from Burgundy, Bordeaux and the Rhône Valley. From producers who work with old vines, in special soils and with centuries of winemaking expertise.

This pack contains ONE bottle of the following:

The wines of Margaux are often the most luscious and forward of Bordeaux, especially in their youth. Château Haut Breton Larigaudière has a perfect example of this in their Cru Bourgeois, composed mostly of cabernet sauvignon. It sees around 18 months in a mix of old and new French oak, adding a touch of vanilla behind the blueberry, cherry, plum and earthiness. It’s generous, concentrated and fresh, with chalky tannins and a long life ahead of it. Check out what Decanter had to say: “A gorgeous wine, with deliciously ripe fruits including black cherry, blue plums and spice. There's a huge amount here, in what is a brooding, deep, broad and earthy wine. A Margaux for the hedonists and sensualists.”

Decanter World Wine Awards
Single Vineyard

Each year, the top cuvée at Laurent Habrard is named after a person and in 2016 it was Valérie, Laurent’s consulting winemaker. You go girl! The wine is made from 100% syrah, from the world’s leading appellation for the grape (thought Côte Rotie and the Barossa may beg to differ). The nose is deep and complex, showing dark fruits, earthy notes and classic Crozes violets. It’s a powerful wine, but not too rich, with good energy and acid to lift up the palate.

Wine writer Jeb Dunnuck calls Domaine Raymond Usseglio the “next superstar estate in Châteauneuf du Pape”. This is the fourth vintage of Raymond’s CNP that we’ve sold and can say that it’s a rock solid mofo fave. Francophiles love this wine and with bold fruit, big tannin and a full-bodied profile, many a South Aussie big red drinker are getting on board too. Check out what Jeb Dunnuck had to say about it: “The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape looks terrific and will be a solid buy. Lots of darker raspberry and currant fruits, notes of peppery herbs and violets, medium to full body, ripe tannins, beautiful purity of fruit, and a great finish all make for a stunning classic cuvée that will drink nicely for 15 years or more.”

This is one to get excited about, mofo! We are talking next level in terms of quality, value and of course, taste. Les Bosquets in Gigondas have six centuries of wine-growing history, with the first vines planted in 1376. They are absolute masters of the craft, with a deep connection to the land of the grenache-famed region. This cuvee is a blend of some of their best sites, made with meticulous attention to detail, including a longer ageing period than many wines - first in barrel, and then coming together as a blend in cement. And since this is a wine to share with friends and family, we’ve got a magnum to be enjoyed by all. The wine is dense, rich and enrapturing.

Platinum medal Decanter

This Grand Cru Saint-Emilion is rich and ripe and at a magical point in its life, drinking very, very well. It’s a stunning example of how Bordeaux terroir shines through the merlot grape in all its generosity and finesse, with a touch of cab franc (15%) adding fresh notes to all that fruit. Expect an abundance of plums, vanilla and milk chocolate. Forest floor and herbal undergrowth are hidden softly underneath - sage and oregano, tobacco leaf. Spice ekes in around my edges, with broad, silky tannin riding on a backbone of bright acidity and keen structure. With a hefty 97 points from Decanter, you can rest assured that you are going to be drinking the top-of-the-top of Bordeaux here.
