Why do we love this case?

If ever there was a grape capable of magic, it’s pinot noir. Little wonder it’s key to many of the most expensive wines in the world. Luckily, there’s none of that pomposity here. Here’s a mix covering some of the very best regions in the world. From perfumed and pretty to dark and sexy, there’s something for every occasion and every food pairing.

Every case contains THREE bottles of each of the following:

Matahiwi Estate Holly South Series Pinot Noir 2020

Five Stars Wine Orbit

Every year we have to wait for this wine. Unfortunately, it sells out too quickly! So we know it’s been a while since the Fo’ have had our mittens on Matahiwi’s more premium ‘Holly’ range. Blood plum and juicy cherry notes flood the senses here. A delicate, cedary oak overlays aromas of soft spices and purple flowers, with a mouthful of sophistication, and bright acidity. There is such great length and and amazing cellaring potential. With ten months in French oak (35% of which is new), a combination of specifically selected pinot noir clones and a vintage providing ideal fruit ripeness, we’re sure you’ll appreciate the complete package that is the ‘Holly’.

Pinot noir is becoming somewhat of a unicorn these days. And if we’re talking about an already hard-to-get wine out of a hard-to-get region, then it’s like finding a unicorn with a platinum and gold horn. I can say, when I tried this bottle one afternoon, I was truly head over heels for it. How could something be this good? How could I experience both earthy savoury characters in tandem with such a brilliant oomph of sour cherry and orange zest? Can this moment of pleasure never end? A humbling wine experience that will leave you singing.

Mofo Fav

This one of the best Victorian pinot’s we’ve tried this year! Not only is it from an excellent vintage, it’s from amazing vineyard up in the mountainous north-east of the state. There’s structure, but it’s backed by a silky texture - one only a dedicated pinot grower could master. Pinot like this has density, power and yet finishes with pure pinot drinking pleasure. Delicious, delightful, and damn hard to put down.

Gapsted are nestled up in Victoria’s High Country (in Gapsted, of all places), and have to be one of Australia’s leading wineries for value. Pinot is a tricky grape to grow at the best of times, and it’s all the harder when you’re working to a budget. But these guys know what they’re doing. Ripe, red berries and cherries, sizzling spice, crunchy herbs and a dash of that something magic that makes pinot the captivating mystery it is. A light lick of French oak gives it the springboard it needs to jump to life on the palate. Cracking stuff!
