Why do we love this case?

New Wave and Mighty! Here is a pack of six Aussie wines that range from smashable to esoteric. From a collection of tiny producers that make wines as a side-hustle, for the love of the grape and the joy that it brings. It’s a great little roadtrip from South Australia over to Victoria, showing off some seriously fun wines from both sides of the border. All the colours of the rainbow, all of the the fruits of the fruit salad. You will not be bored!

Each case contains ONE bottle of:

Red
Pinot Noir
Yarra Valley

Goodman Pinot Noir 2019
Allspice
Blackberry
Mulberry
Medium-bodied
Bright
Concentrated
Halliday Five Star Producer
Women in Wine

This wine has got it all; depth and complexity along with absolute likability and most importantly, drinkability! It’s from Kate Goodman, who is back on board after a year or so. There’s gorgeous red cherries, laced with star anise, pepper and a breath of cinnamon from the gentle oak treatment. It’s nuanced and immediately delicious. It’s got potential for the cellar, but drinking very well right now.

Mofo Fave

Touriga and malbec - together at last! Two powerful grapes from Portugal and Southern France (respectively). There's a chance that a blend like this is a bit of a monster, but this wine is the opposite. In classic BER style, it's vibrant, punchy and light on its feet, full of fruit and ready for your next BBQ or picnic.

Harvest. wines are produced by the adventurous and forward-thinking team from Unico Zelo. It’s a grower’s co-operative that aims to support growers and create crowd-pleasing wines. This Blanc de Blancs is a clean and fresh Aussie fizz that hits all the right notes. There’s green apple, citrus pith and pretty floral notes. A wine to enjoy alone, but not too precious to be put into a spritz!

Adelaide Hills Bushfire Fundraiser

This wine, according to the makers, is “paying tribute to the industry and a celebration of community, 21 winemakers in the Adelaide Hills Wine Region have come together to create the Hills Appeal Wine, a 2019 syrah meunier, with all proceeds going back into the bushfire damaged region.” We are very glad to get on board and show our support for a region that we love, and their winemakers and grape growers. The participating wineries include some of the region’s best - Shaw + Smith and Sidewood Estate to name a couple. It’s syrah with a splash of meunier and a sprinkle of a couple of other grapes. It’s dark and broody on the nose, as you’d expect from a classic Hills syrah - dark berries sit with herbs and a savoury finish. It’s medium-bodied, but concentrated and spicy. Drink now or over the next 5-7 years.

Five Star Halliday Rated Winery
Mofo Fave

Atlas Wines are one of the rising stars of the Clare Valley, a region that is dominated by big and established wineries. Their wines and packaging are what we'd call 'new wave,' bursting with personality, along with citrus, minerality and texture. This gris is as fresh as they come with nashi pear, grapefruit, lemongrass and pineapple on the palate. It's layered too, but instead of getting deeper it gets even more spritely, more exciting and aromatic. The finish is clean and refreshing, the colour has a tinge of pink.

The deep and rich nose suggests power on the palate and that’s what you get - but a cool-climate, elegant version of power that lets you drink glass after glass. Classic Eden Valley, dark chocolate and blueberry compote, laced with good vanilla beans. Follows through on the palate with loads of black fruit, some red fruit to back it up, flinty and graphitey. Savoury tannins and wonderful balance, with plush fruit over the top of everything. Brothers at War are riding high on the new wave of Barossa and Eden Valley producers who are making wine with food in mind. I might be making food with wine in mind, though. This wine, for the near future.
