Why do we love this case?

We all have those moments of indecisiveness. What to drink? Red. Yes. But what am I in the mood for? A juicy pinot ? A winter warmer shiraz? A balanced gsm? And I’ve always wanted to try a cab franc that awakens your senses from first to last glass...

Fear not, mofo. This pack of mixed reds contains all the above, no need to make hard decisions here. We’ve made them for you, and (not to toot our own horn) but they’re good.

The bottles pictured here do not necessarily reflect the bottle shapes or closures that will be included in this pack. The Vinomofo team is working from home, to help fight against COVID-19 and keep staff safe, so all that cool stuff we use to make things look pretty is back at the office. We reckon that, so long as the wine is good (and it is!) it doesn’t matter too much under the circumstances. Hope you agree!

Each case contains ONE bottle of the following:

Boutique Producer

This wine is made by the legendary Sergio Carlei from the famous Cambrian soils of Heathcote. The region is famed for its medium-bodied, peppery and powerful shiraz. At three-years-old, this wine is looking the goods with a nose full of plums, spice and mocha aromas, and followed by classic Heathcote pepper on the palate. What a delight!

Wine Front

A few folks on the Mofo team got to spend a little time in Central Otago last year and still won’t shut up about it. ‘Nothing short of breathtaking,’ we were told, ‘from the views to the wineries to restaurants and bungee jumping.’ The same, we reckon, can be said of Central Otago pinot. Nothing short of breathtaking. This example from the global producers at Handpicked Wines has a touch of age and has moved from fruit-forward to much more mellow and savoury. It still has vibrant aromas of cherry and raspberry along with those earthy notes we’ve come to love from the region. It is a great example of a fine wine at a more mature moment in its life - equal parts intriguing and delicious.

Wrattonbully is a special place, famous for its unique terra rosa over limestone soils. Terre a Terre (a side project of the Tapanappa empire) are a producer of very high calibre, and their expertise shows in all of their wines. Cabernet franc is known to be the prettier, more floral variety from the cabernet family, however this is a wine with more serious structure, tannin and presence than you may be expecting. This wine is full of dark fruits and is medium-bodied, but deep and powerful.

If you were hanging out in South Australia in the 1880’s, you’d know Pikes for their beers. Fast forward 100 years and and several generations and the Pike family has firmly established themselves as one of the premier wine producers in the Clare Valley. Hops and grapevines, a rather abstract take on the traditional family tree. Their Cottage shiraz speaks loudly of the Clare style - a bit less dense than wines from the neighbouring Barossa, but still deep and concentrated with all the hallmarks of an Aussie’s favourite red.

Buyers Pick - John

Rosenvale is one of our favourite up-and-comers from the Barossa, and this rich, powerful GSM shows us exactly why. The raspberry characteristic, derived from the grenache component, is the dominant fruit, with support from plum and blackberry hints carried by the shiraz. To round it all out, there’s a bit of allspice and earthiness thanks to the mataro. It’s bold, deep in flavour and perfectly aged after four years.
