"Destemmed whole berries in static fermenter, pumped over twice daily for 14 days, then post-ferment maceration for 3 months, basket-pressed to French oak (30% new) of various shapes and sizes for 16 months maturation. 'Mine is bigger than yours' type of stuff, yet not swamped by oak. The '17 vintage and moderate alcohol have combined to produce a challenging and stimulating wine" – Halliday Wine Companion

Old Vines

"From one of the last genuine urban vineyards in Adelaide, in the Marion council district, and vinified nearby in Patritti's suburban winery. This wine's sourcing and story is as exciting as the wine in the glass. A 90/10% grenache/shiraz blend from old vines, with 6 months in a range of new (10%) and older oak, 60/40% American/French. Plenty of just-out-of-the-oven baking spice aroma to begin, hot cross bun, energetic crimson fruits, with a bath of rich, earthy tannins on the palate. So much to love about this wine." – Halliday Wine Companion

Old Vine

"Sourced from a neighbouring block of grenache (65%), the Manor Block shiraz (32%) and estate bush-vine mourvèdre (3%). Each variety fermented and aged separately for 14 months in seasoned French wood, including some barriques. A swathe of bitter chocolate and oak-derived vanillans meld with blue fruits, kirsch, anise and clove. Expansive and luxuriant, as much as it is taut and energetic. A complex juxtaposition, with firm, briary tannins to conclude." – Halliday Wine Companion

"On skins for 15 days, matured for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak. Gorgeous. Oak is evident, but the fruit has so much exuberant concentration that it hardly matters. This is a deeply satisfying rendition of Coonawarra shiraz. The brightness of the fruit is almost addictive, and very attractive. Hedonistic, but classy." – Halliday Wine Companion

"100% shiraz. Sweet raspberry, plum, toffee and asphalt flavours move softly through the mouth. It's both fresh and bold, the fruit flavours well complemented by clovey, smoky oak." – Halliday Wine Companion

"Juicy, bouncy, stemmy, crunchy cabernet franc: delicious. Blackberries, eucalyptus, pink peppercorns, red licorice, brine, bitter dark choc and even red snakes. This puts me firmly in mind of a nouveau wine from Chinon – drink it in the short term (ie tonight) to experience the joy and x-factor this wine has to offer. For those who insist on drinking cabernet throughout summer, this could be the answer. I think it would handle a gentle chill with grace."– Halliday Wine Companion
