Why do we love this case?
Centuries of hard study and impossible calculations by boffins all over the world have gotten us no closer to figuring out whether we prefer gris or grigio. And you know what, we're happy sitting on the fence. In this case, you'll get to explore the wonders of both styles. It’s pretty much the best way to get around the grape.
2x Moss Brothers Moses Rock Pinot Gris 2023
White — Pinot Gris
Margaret River — Australia
Moss Brothers have created a seriously versatile wine here. There's a bit of roundness on the palate brought about by a portion of wild fermentation in oak barrels. This richness meets the fresher fruit and energetic acid of the wine perfectly creating a food friendly drop that's just as at home on a fancy wine list as it is in an esky on the back patio.
The thing about excellence is that it's expected in every aspect of an operation.
Whether it's the very top tier of Australian wine or a humble pinot gris that you can take absolutely anywhere, Moss Brothers find a way to go above and beyond. They could've decided to simply make a perfectly passable pinot gris, but no. The addition of a portion of wild fermented, oak barrel aged juice elevates this one above its competitors and shows us what can be created when you take a little extra care. Generous notes of nashi pear, melon and citrus build to a savoury and slightly spicy finish that won't be lost to a wide range of dishes or situations. If served at about 7 degrees, the wine shows all it's tricks. If served straight out of the esky it's a super fun summer slurper - pick your poison.
You’d pay $32 full price.

2x Coombe Yarra Valley Estate Pinot Gris 2024
White — Pinot Gris
Yarra Valley — Australia
2024 is turning out to be a pretty special year in the Yarra Valley. Not to get too technical, it was warm when it needed to be and cool when it needed to be. The result was slow and even ripening allowing the winemakers to really pick whenever they wanted to pick and then to treat the juice however they'd like. This wine shows what high quality producers can do with that freedom. There's plenty of ripe fruit and a subtle creaminess present but this has been achieved without sacrificing the brightness or crisp acidity of the wine. We'll be having this one with a lovely bit of goats cheese, maybe even some blue if we're feeling extra naughty.
You’d pay $30 full price.

2x Pyren Vineyards Tanwood Pinot Gris 2023
White — Pinot Gris
Pyrenees — Australia
The Victorian Pyrenees is not the first place that you'd go searching for a bottle of pinot gris, but you certainly should start. With a classic climate for aromatic white wines, this is all about the fleshy white peach and pear drop characters that are hard to resist. Add in a dose of tartness somewhere in the realm of green apple and almond skin, and you've got the perfectly balanced glass.
You’d pay $25 full price.

2x Savian Pinot Grigio 2023
White — Pinot Grigio
Veneto — Italy
Let us take you all the way to Veneto without even having to leave your backyard. This classic Italian grigio delivers in spades, providing subtle floral notes over the nose, firm pear flavours and the palate weight of a gentle hug. The subtle tartness on the finish wraps it up neatly and demands a light dish of grilled white fish or maybe some green olives. We recommend enjoying a glass or two in your sun drenched garden at around about 4pm. With low sulphites throughout the winemaking process and organically grown fruit and a DOC classification to boot, Savian has been kicking wine goals for decades.
You’d pay $28 full price.
