Ah, the age-old debate. Do I go for a gris or a grigio? Centuries of hard study and impossible calculations by boffins all over the world have gotten us no closer to finding an answer.

Why do we love this case?
When someone first put this case together here at the 'Fo, we collectively face-palmed at the simplicity of the solution. Here, you get two bottles of six different wines. Each wine is a little different so you’ve got some room for exploration, too. It’s pretty much the best way to get around the grape.
2x Paddy Borthwick Paper Road Pinot Gris 2022
White — Pinot Gris
Paddy Borthwick runs a winery and farm that’s all about family. His great-great grandfather was a pioneer in the British meat industry and the family eventually immigrated to New Zealand, purchasing Te Whanga Station. In 1996, Paddy and his dad Robin started planning the Borthwick Vineyard & Winery onsite – and it’s them we have to thank for this delicious pinot gris.
We LOVE all of their pinots- noir, of course, but their gris is not to be missed. This is a bright, minerally drop full of fresh, white stone fruits and a touch of nuttiness. From Wairapara, or ‘glistening waters’ in Māori, this vino is just as refreshing as its geography suggests. It’s floral with lovely acid, but fairly full and fruity, so get those oysters ready people!

2x Middle Earth Wines Pinot Gris 2021
White — Pinot Gris
Nelson — New Zealand
Fresh off the port of New Zealand, Middle Earth is one of our favourite wineries from the south island. We only ever get a limited amount because they don’t make much wine - it’s pretty exclusive. Refreshingly crisp and brimming with sweet luscious honey character, lemon, dragonfruit and quince, this is mouth-filling and textured, piercing the palate with firm acidity and minerality. This is perfect for the humid weather served super chilled; it just slips and slides. Destined to be consumed with your favourite hawker dishes, this wine will happily take the heat off your chilli crab or balance alongside the tamarind sweetness of rojak.
You’d pay $25 full price.

2x Common Ground Pinot Gris 2022
White — Pinot Gris
Limestone Coast — Barossa
Pinot gris often gets relegated to the 'humble all-rounder' on pouring lists and kitchen benches Australia wide. Approachable, easy-going, and broadly appealing. The Common Ground pinot gris is all of those things and more. Zesty and richly citrus driven. It nails the pulpy plushness we have come to love from modern gris. Grapefruit, pear, and a bit of rockmelon and honeysuckle.A bit of green apple and lime juice really drive the acid line, giving the wine pep and length. This has all the hallmarks of great pinot gris and then some.
You’d pay $20 full price.

2x Colab and Bloom Pinot Grigio 2022
White — Pinot Grigio
South Australia — Barossa
We love us some bright, fresh and vibrant grigio here at the ‘Fo. And this one hits all those notes. There’s pear and green apple in spades and wonderfully balanced acidity to cleanse the palate. Nothing pairs better with lunch on the deck than a wine just like this. It doesn’t need to be any more complicated than that.
You’d pay $25 full price.

2x Twin Valleys Pinot Grigio 2023
White — Pinot Grigio
King Valley — Barossa
Italy’s leading grape varieties have an established home in the King Valley, including the ever-popular pinot grigio. This example of the grape is bright with citrus and pear on the nose and freshness from the nose to the palate with a crisp, mineral finish. When given more time to develop in the glass, the wine shares a greater depth to its expression. Ripe red apple, nashi pear, and hints of sherbet on the nose. From a weekend BBQ to a plate of spaghetti marinara over candlelight, it’s a flexible food wine that is sure to please.

2x Tomich Hill Pinot Grigio 2022
White — Pinot Grigio
Adelaide Hills — Barossa
Adelaide Hills pinot grigio is something to marvel, often falling in the shadows of the big players: chardy, pinot and of course savvy b. Presenting a ripper of a wine from Tomich that finally shows of the grigio goods. Earning its own stripes with fresh, crunchy acidity and layers of complexity building over and over and over. Granny smith apples meet white peach and oyster shell saltiness. Finishing work on a Friday afternoon, you deserve something as rewarding as this.
You’d pay $22 full price.
