Why do we love this case?
Ah, the age-old debate. Do I go for a gris or a grigio? Centuries of hard study and impossible calculations by boffins all over the world have gotten us no closer to finding an answer. Then, someone at Vinomofo put this case together and we collectively face-palmed at the simplicity of the solution. Here, you get two bottles of six different wines. Each wine is a little different so you’ve got some room for exploration, too. It’s pretty much the best way to get around the grape.
2x Paddy Borthwick Paper Road Pinot Gris 2022
White — Pinot Gris
Paddy Borthwick runs a winery and farm that’s all about family. His great-great grandfather was a pioneer in the British meat industry and the family eventually immigrated to New Zealand, purchasing Te Whanga Station. In 1996, Paddy and his dad Robin started planning the Borthwick Vineyard & Winery onsite – and it’s them we have to thank for this delicious pinot gris.
We LOVE all of their pinots- noir, of course, but their gris is not to be missed. This is a bright, minerally drop full of fresh, white stone fruits and a touch of nuttiness. From Wairapara, or ‘glistening waters’ in Māori, this vino is just as refreshing as its geography suggests. It’s floral with lovely acid, but fairly full and fruity, so get those oysters ready people!

2x Middle Earth Wines Pinot Gris 2021
White — Pinot Gris
Nelson — New Zealand
Fresh off the port of New Zealand, Middle Earth is one of our favourite wineries from the south island. We only ever get a limited amount because they don’t make much wine - it’s pretty exclusive. Refreshingly crisp and brimming with sweet luscious honey character, lemon, dragonfruit and quince, this is mouth-filling and textured, piercing the palate with firm acidity and minerality. This is perfect for the humid weather served super chilled; it just slips and slides. Destined to be consumed with your favourite hawker dishes, this wine will happily take the heat off your chilli crab or balance alongside the tamarind sweetness of rojak.

2x Fenetre Lavande Pinot Gris 2022
White — Pinot Gris
South Australia — Australia
Steely and tart south Aussie gris. Vibrant stone fruit and citrus on the back of bristling acidity. Gris sometimes gets relegated to the warmer months alone, and while it’s well and truly at home under the brolly at the beach or in the back yard, there’s much more this wine offers. This has zesty lemon and green apple at its core, but there is plushness and texture flanking that freshness. Beautifully balanced and multifaceted, this versatile gris will hit the spot year-round.

2x Gapsted Limited Release Pinot Grigio 2022
White — Pinot Grigio
King Valley — Australia
The Alpine and King Valleys are national leaders for producing delicious grigio. It’s likely thanks to all the Italian influence up there. There’s more Italian surnames floating around those parts than in The Godfather. So really, you’d expect them to know what they’re doing with pinot grigio.
This’ll keep you cool and refreshed on the hottest of days. It’ll please everyone from Auntie Karen to your grigio-guzzling bestie. Don’t turn your nose up at a great wine doing great work, even if it is as ludicrously low priced as this. Trust in this great value vino. It’ll repay you in flavour, every damn day.
You’d pay $25 full price.

2x Colab and Bloom Pinot Grigio 2022
White — Pinot Grigio
South Australia — Australia
We love us some bright, fresh and vibrant grigio here at the ‘Fo. And this one hits all those notes. There’s pear and green apple in spades and wonderfully balanced acidity to cleanse the palate. Nothing pairs better with lunch on the deck than a wine just like this. It doesn’t need to be any more complicated than that.
You’d pay $25 full price.

2x Pikes Luccio Pinot Grigio 2022
White — Pinot Grigio
Clare Valley — Australia
Pinot grigio in the hands of an epic Clare Valley producer - we like the sound of that. Light on it’s feet at the same time as being dense in fruit. Apple and pear abound, wrapped in grapefruit pith and floral notes. It’s always very hard to find a miss amongst the range of our producer here, but their white wines really do the walkin’ and the talkin’ when it comes down to the good stuff. A certified winner.
