Each pack contains TWO of the following:

- Minervois
Minervois is a little region in the south of France that punches WAY above its weight. The reds are almost always some variation on the GSM blend with this one being only grenache and syrah. You’ll find complexity and ripeness with a bit of creaminess and richness on the full palate. The fruit, leaning towards blueberry, and white pepper hints are all supported by evident oak that leads to a long, satisfying finish. You could pay a lot more for something of this quality out of a flashier area of perhaps the Rhône Valley, but you’re a savvy wine buyer, aren’t you?

- Côtes du Rhône
Domaine Gassier employs a house style with this Côtes du Rhône, sourcing fruit on both sides of the Rhône River, specifically from Signargues, Cairanne and Rasteau. The blend is 85% grenache and 15% syrah, all from old vines. Michel Gassier is known for producing wines of immense structure, displaying concentrated fruit when in their youth, yet giving way to leathery and spicy characteristics as they age. Like any good Côtes du Rhône, the Halos de Jupiter shows exactly what the winemaker is striving for in a more approachable and affordable style than their upper reserve of wines. So no need to empty the savings account and then wait ten years. This one is easy on the wallet and ready to drink from the get go.

- Shiraz Blend
- Corbières
This wine has a deep dark colour and dense cassis, forest floor and shaved graphite on the nose. The palate starts very elegantly and then boom - fruit and power. Dark berries and potpurri with super-fine and abundant tannin. There’s a hint of beef stock on the back palate with all that chalky tannin and black tea on the finish - lots going on. This is a long and powerful wine, with so many flavours and nuances to discover.

Cap Royal Bordeaux Supérieur is a ‘sum of its parts’ sort of wine. Jean-René Matignon, winemaker at the renowned Chateau Pichon Baron, is in charge of the wine each vintage and uses his extensive connections in Bordeaux to source grapes from vineyards he sees fit for the year’s blend. This allows him to select the best fruit to achieve his vinous goal without being limited to one plot of land. The 2018 vintage is 75% merlot and 25% cabernet sauvignon. Intensely coloured with a nose of blackberry, blueberry and spice, the wine expresses more dark fruits, vanilla and toasted oak on the palate. It’s powerful and rich, yet refreshing.

- Corbières
This lovely red is from Corbières, which is one of the warmer areas in France, resulting in a slightly richer and more powerful wine. It’s made from 30% syrah, 30% grenache and 40% carignan. The syrah brings spice and acid, the grenache brings jubey red fruits and the carignan adds an opulence and purple fruits. It’s medium, bordering on full body, full of dark red fruits, spice and lovely drying tannins. It’s sure to be a great drink over the next 5 years. Need more assurance? See the Decanter review below.
