Want to know something crazy? This is the first lineup of reds from across France that we’ve put together, and frankly, we’re not sure how you survived the wait! There have been Rhône packs, Provence packs and others, but this is the first one to show off the breadth and variety of wine’s homeland. From the top young winemaking team of Baptiste Olivier and Gérald Lafont comes another vintage of their delicious Côtes-du-Rhône. This team work for some of the most exciting estates in the Rhône Valley and in their spare time create a few wonderful wines for themselves. It's a pure and clean expression of the region with bright and lively grenache dominating (75%), with syrah (15%) and mourvèdre filling out the palate. Interestingly, this leans further into the blueberry fruit spectrum rather than the usual red fruits, with plenty of spice and earth coming through.

This beauty is definitely punching above its weight, with bright berry fruit and cherry slice aromas lying on a bed of carob. It’s bright and bouncy. Playful and fresh. Nervy and delicious. And it’s so versatile with dinner. Enjoy with a provincial inspired roast chicken with lemon, rosemary, garlic and black pepper. Step it up with a roll of roast pork. Or with your favourite Thai noodles. You can’t go wrong!

Domaine Gayda started as a staging post for weary travellers and their horses all the way back in 1749. In 2004, the property was converted into a winery, accommodation and restaurant. They source grapes from throughout the Languedoc region to make wines in both traditional and modern styles. This is an 80/20 blend of syrah and cinsault, making for a medium-bodied wine with raspberry and cherry as the fruit profile. There’s some herbaceousness, spice and even tea leaf mixed in. The tannins are moderate and there’s a hint of florals to add some brightness to the wine. It’s so very smooth and an easy, lovable red.

Corbières is the leading appellation of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in south west France. The region is famous for their powerful red blends and this is a very classy example of their place. Castlemaure is a winery named after a town in which an army of 150 residents take care of hundred of plots, which go into the creation of their wines. ‘Les Hautes’ is one of their two top wines, from the best barrels, of the best sites. The wine has a deep dark colour and dense cassis, forest floor and shaved graphite on the nose. The palate starts very elegantly and then boom - fruit and power. Dark berries and potpurri with super-fine and abundant tannin. There’s a hint of beef stock on the back palate with all that chalky tannin and black tea on the finish - lots going on. This is a long and powerful wine, with so many flavours and nuances to discover.

This lovely red is from Corbières, which is one of the warmer areas in France, resulting in a slightly richer and more powerful wine. It’s made from 30% syrah, 30% grenache and 40% carignan. The syrah brings spice and acid, the grenache brings jubey red fruits and the carignan adds an opulence and purple fruits. It’s medium, bordering on full body, full of dark red fruits, spice and lovely drying tannins. It’s sure to be a great drink over the next 5 years.
