Why do we love this case?

“As the name says, it’s six bottles from Europe. They’re more premium regions: there’s a Beaujolais, and we’re into Piedmont in Italy so you’re stepping it up a bit. Again, a really great way of trying European wines if you haven’t drunk many because this offers you the opportunity and the value to try a range of wines.”

“Six wines, six regions, six different producers: two from Italy, Spain and France. It’s great for a dinner party because you’re trying six different wines, from six different places, in six different styles – how much better can you buy?” – John Clark, Mofo Wine Team

Each case contains one bottle of each of the following:

When I was in Tuscany with my family, a friend had organised for us to have a *light lunch* at a restaurant just outside Chivitella. We nearly didn’t make it. The winding Tuscan roads are hella confusing and we ended up 100% lost. Just as my dad was nearing breaking point, we found it. It was a small, outdoor terrace of terracotta tiles overlooking the Tuscan hills. A single table was set, spread with enough antipasti to feed the entire village down the road. We tried to eat at a polite pace, but the prosciutto, the mozzarella, the parmesan… The CHIANTI!

Michael Garner
Andrea Briccarello

This Langhe nebbiolo is the traditional red wine of the Piedmont region. Michael Garner and Andrea Briccarello gave this vino 94 and 93 points apiece thanks to a nose that smacks of red berries, vanilla and cinnamon. It’s smoky, it’s spicy and it’s lengthier than a Melbourne Demons premiership drought with intense, juicy flavours of black fruits. If you’re itchin’ for an Italian vino, scratch yourself the right way with a well-structured, super tasty nebbiolo.

Spanish Import

A really lovely Rioja from a standout Spanish producer, this ‘15 juice has outstanding balance and style is essential drinking for any Spanish lovers out there. It’s fresh with aromas of berries and pepper and a smooth, crisp palate. Spicy, toasty, lively and fruity, it copped 94 points from Wine Guide Gourmets and comes from a 5th generation producer who pride themselves on a philosophy of: “above all, we are grape growers”. The definition of humble, but still this Rioja is totally showing off.

Wines from the Moulin-à-Vent cru are typically more powerful and fuller than your average Beaujolais, so let this lend a little weight to your pinot pack. This beaut has picked up 4.5 stars from Wine Advocate and is medium to full-bodied, a lengthy, spicy vino packed with perfectly ripe red and black fruits.

Robert Parker
French import

This ‘15 Frenchy hails from the South but will feel right at home in your mouth. It’s a full-bodied vino, a heavyweight champ that clocked up 93 points from Robert Parker to match its dark, jammy fruits. Spice, herbs, cherries mix in the glass, creating a “deep and layered” wine with “incredible texture”. Parker reckons he’d gladly pay three to four times the going rate, but we’ve managed to halve that rate for you mofos so go forth and prosper properly – with an armful of wine.
