Why do we love this case?

Claims, receipts, levies...it’s all rather taxing, isn’t it? That’s the point, I suppose, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate the end of the financial year in style. We’ve put together a case of financial year favourites that won’t send you bust, twelve tasty little treats for you to enjoy while you crunch the numbers. Just make sure you write off deductions, not yourself.

Each case contains TWO of the following wines:

Shiraz 2017

Margaret River, WA

93pts Ray Jordan | Five Red Star Halliday Rated Winery

Another day, another delightful deal on top notch Margaret River shiraz. It’s just so silky smooth and easy. Everything you look for out of complex shiraz but just a dash less heavy than those SA versions. Plum and blackberry, licorice and fig, white pepper and leather. There’s power and tannin to tame that big steak, but elegance to keep you from feeling too heavy in the head. When it comes to quality Margs shiraz, it’s all about the balance. And this one’s firmly on the tightrope.

YOU’D PAY $40 full price.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Langhorne Creek, SA

This is a VERY exciting winery from South Australia. They are able to make dense wines that don’t come across as jammy whilst still packing in texture and structure. Pretty ideal for full-bodied reds if you ask me. Most of what they do is from the Barossa, but this cabernet comes from Langhorne Creek, a great spot for ripening the grape. It’s deep and dark, exhibiting cherry, blackcurrant, star anise, cloves, tobacco, spice and an earthy undertone. We’re yet to be proven wrong that these producers are one to watch!

YOU’D PAY $30 full price.

Pinot Noir 2018

Central Otago, NZ

The wine is produced on a 20-year old vineyard with exceptional drainage located just north of Alexandra and between the Mata-Au and Manuherikia Rivers in Central Otago. This is their fruit-driven drink now-ish pinot noir. There’s still a bit of oak on it, but the plum, strawberry, and rhubarb brightness rule the day. You’ll even find a touch of mocha in there and the typical Otago herbaceousness and spice. A long finish with a fine acid line complete what is a total knockout for Otago pinot at this price.

YOU’D PAY $30 full price.

Chardonnay 2020

Margaret River, WA

5 Red Star Halliday Rated Producer | Boutique Producer

We’ve dabbled in the wines of this Five Red Star Halliday Rated Producer in the past, but this’ll be the first chardonnay for us. It’s about time to be honest. They’ve got a rockstar of a winemaker and sit right in the heart of Margaret River. That’s a winning combination right there. Classic margs chardy with lime, peach, bright acidity and some nuttiness. A little rich, quite minerally and immensely satisfying. What took us so long?

YOU’D PAY $30 full price.

Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Nelson, NZ

95 Michael Cooper | 94 Wine Orbit | 5 Stars Peter Saunders | 5 Stars Wine Orbit

This is classic sauvignon blanc from one of Nelson’s best producers. Although not in the limelight like its neighbour Marlborough, Nelson is on the up and getting a great reputation for classy sauvignon blanc. This wine has bright aromas of gooseberry and grapefruit and the palate has all the tropical fruit you’d expect of the style, with a long, mineral finish. Fresh, fun and delicious!

YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

Pinot Grigio 2021

King Valley, VIC

This’ll keep you cool and refreshed on the hottest of days. It’ll please everyone from Auntie Karen to your grigio-guzzling bestie. Don’t turn your nose up at a great wine doing great work, even if it is as ludicrously low priced as this. Trust in this great value vino. It’ll repay you in flavour, every damn day.

YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
