Dangerous Value Dozen 14.0

The only real danger with this delicious mixed dozen is that you’ll never look back. It’s all about the delight-to-dollar ratio here as we’ve assembled some of our very favourite wines into one box. There’s a cheeky bottle for every occasion. Don’t let me keep you a second longer, mofo!
Every box contains TWO bottles each of the following:

Cimicky has been at it in the Barossa for 179 years. That’s not a typo. Since German settlers moved onto the property in 1842, it has only been in the hands of two families. This is their Piping Shrike GSM, a wine sitting between medium and full-bodied with a silky palate and notes of raspberry, rose petal and spice. This is made in a drink-now style, bursting with bright fruit, so no need to pack this away for a later date.

Roll out the red carpet! This wine is from one half of the winemaking team from Julien Schaal - the one and only Ms Sophie Schaal. It’s the first release under her eponymous label, and with experience across Burgundy and South Africa, you’d be right to expect a very smart chardonnay from Sophie. The wine is full and smooth, bursting with melon and citrus, dancing alongside mineral notes and soft acidity. This is a cracking chardy at an amazing price and we are as excited about the wine as we are to work with Sophie’s range into the future.

The Limestone coast region is famous for reds, but if this pinot gris from Reschke is any indication, it’s also a ripper region for aromatic whites. This is beautifully perfumed, gorgeously lifted and wonderfully fruity. A cool, elegant acidity drives the experience with poise and grace. The finish is long and lingering. It’s miraculous wine for your money, and we think you’ll agree.

The history of Bodega Luigi Bosca dates back to the turn of the 20th century when the Arizu family from Basque country and the Bosca family from Piemonte joined efforts upon their arrival in Argentina. After four generations, the Arizu family still runs the day-to-day operations as the winery charges ahead well into the 21st century. Tabu is their expression of an approachable, drink-now style of Malbec. It carries all the driving fruit intensity expected out of Mendoza with hints of cherry and spice, a smooth texture and ripe tannins. And since it’s a red wine from Argentina, you already know the perfect food pairing - a nice thick cut of steak grilled to perfection.

From a little-known corner of South Australia, somewhere along the Riddoch Highway, comes this exceptional shiraz from Farmer's Leap. It’s absolutely jam-packed with stewed fruit, chocolate and licorice. Ripe and delicious flavour that packs a real punch, softened only by a bit of bottle age. It’s carried on the back of bright acidity, lifting blackberries, bramble, black cherry and prosciutto notes alike to a long and delectable finish. This has to be up there in terms of best value buys. Whether you’re after a pantry-stocking quaffer or something to share with the family over Sunday lunch, this is a great value contender with a foot in both camps.
