The round melon, pineapple and guava notes abundantly coat the palate, while succulent french oak flavours linger long. Loaded with texture and harmonious layers of citrus and floral notes to really secure its place as one complex chardy. You’ll have no problems knocking back a glass or two of this beauty whatever the occassion, we’ve certainly been known to crack one come 5pm at Mofo HQ.

Trust us. When you collect your wine, and you open the box and pull this little number out, your eyes will light up and a wry smile will take over. This producer has been at the top of their game for so long now, and for good reason. Hunter chardonnay has such character and individuality which just adds to the utter versatility that is Aussie chardy. In its youth, enjoy crisp citrus and fleshy melon notes perfect for a warm arvo but in years to come, a developed nuttiness will reveal itself and a richness over the palate. Mornington Peninsula — Australia
This is a magical Mornington chardy from a winemaking sorcerer. It’s got ballerina-like poise and sublime balance. Peaches, apples and nectarines sit nicely along a flinty streak and a slight smokiness. It’s medium bodied, with a nice fresh acidity that gives drive and direction. The finish is nutty, with a nice fleshy back palate that keeps you intrigued right to the very end. Great wine, and it’ll only get better over the next few years... but good luck keeping your hands off it until then.

We may rummage around, trying to find the best chardy we can, but we’ll inevitably be taken back to Hawkes Bay, for it is the unsung hero of new world chardonnay that is rich, powerful and full of flavour. Matahiwi have had your back for all things wine related since day dot and we’re pleased to unveil yet another stunner from their ‘Holly’ range. With fleshy melon and ripe stone fruit sitting alongside a super line of citrus acidity, enjoy exploring the winemaking behind the fruit thanks to 35% new French oak, 11 months on lees with constant stirring to build texture and personality, and partial malolactic fermentation for that creamy hit that leaves us begging for more.

Whether we’ll admit it or not, we all play favourites, and this chardonnay comes from one of our favourite wineries in the biz, Rob Dolan. It’s bursting with personality (much like the Rob himself). There’s a nice line of lemony citrus, hints of cashew and a sneaky oak backbone holding it all together. Pour us another glass and let's get settled in.

Margaret River — Australia
Margaret River chardonnay is a desert island region/varietal for us here at the 'Fo. There is nothing quite like it in the world: rich, nutty, fully developed citrus and stone fruit and deliciously sumptuous burnt pineapple and toffee nuance. This fits the bill, for sure. It also brings peppy acidity to the table, too - offering quite a lingering, driving freshness through the finish.
