A stunningly elegant and long chardonnay; the quality here is immediately apparent, not that we're surprised coming from Rosenthal. Beautiful pear, nectarine and lemongrass perfumes rise out the glass and coat the palate, fading only after theyâve said all they had to say. It feels young now, though that still makes for fine drinking. The pristine clarity has a charm all of its own. Expect it to improve exponentially with time. Itâs excellent now, and earth-shattering in a few years.

Brokenwood has been at the top of their game for a long time now, so much so that some of our mofos have become converts to their chardonnay almost exclusively. Hunter chardonnay has such character and individuality which just adds to the utter versatility that is Aussie chardy. In its youth, enjoy crisp citrus and fleshy melon notes perfect for a warm arvo but in years to come, a developed nuttiness will reveal itself and a richness over the palate. Drink now or drink later? The choice is yoursâŠ

Sometimes, it can be tough to know where to sit with chardonnay- go big and buttery, or lean and crispy? Well mofo, what if we told you that you can have both in this delightfully balanced drop from First Drop? You may know them for their diverse range of reds, but you should get acquainted with their phenomenal whites mofo. Enhanced by the regionâs cool climate, crunchy apple and pears sit proudly on the forefront of the palate, but it certainly doesnât stop there. Seeing a touch of French oak (25%) youâll still get rounded vanilla and melon notes, as well as cashew, almond and biscuit-y goodness from extended time on lees. Come sit on the fence with us, the viewâs pretty good from here.

Bright, fresh and minerally...hallmarks of a good Yarra Valley chardonnay. If itâs got a bit more happening in the form of nuttiness and melon, all the better. This is the first chardonnay weâve gotten from Greenstone, having stocked their shiraz for many (many many) successful runs. So when they offered us this wine, we had to get it.

Itâs a clean and fresh style of the variety with loads of melon and minerality, all accompanied by a gentle acidity to make for easy drinking. We suppose the French know a thing or two about making a tasty wine, and certainly have a few tricks up their sleeve when it comes to chardy. Much crisper and fresh than many Aussie styles, we're all about drinking this with seafood or perhaps a sunday roast chook... anyone else thirsty or is it just us?

Harvest. wines are produced by the adventurous and forward-thinking team from Unico Zelo. Itâs a growerâs co-operative that aims to support growers and create crowd-pleasing wines. This chardonnay is from a vineyard in the northern Adelaide Hills that sits over alluvial clay and quartz. Itâs full of minerality (no surprise there), honeydew, lemon, bright acidity and just a touch of creaminess.
