Why do we love this case?
Here, we bring you the best of the best. These are the wines that our producers have loved so dearly that they've kept a few behind at the cellar for their future selves (and, some lucky customers who might get the winemakers on a good day). We've had to do some really sweet talking, a little bit of begging, and a lot of string-pulling to curate this case. Presenting: the Aged. Shiraz. Selection. It feels good to say it, and even better to drink it.
1x First Drop 'Cold Sweat' Wilton Shiraz 2016
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Sometimes wines come along that you could really just get out your knife and fork and dive into. This is a prime example of just that; not for its weight or density, but for its satisfying-to-drink quality that'll have you savouring it a little longer. The swirls of cherry ripe amongst the salty, vegemite-y backbone are something too beautiful to describe. Layer that up with a good dose of leather and tobacco from a good decade in the bottle and we’re on track to doing this wine justice. This is perhaps too good to describe, you’ll just have to try it.
You’d pay $100 full price.

1x Thorn-Clarke Bona Fide Shiraz 2018
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Thorne-Clarke: a meeting of two families that settled on Barossa soils over a century ago. Like many, it’s a story of hard work, nose to the ground, generation after generation. Fast forward to the 21st century, and it’s all about their classy wines that stand out from the pack. True to their terroir-driven ethos, the Bona Fide shiraz is all about small scale and a watchful eye. Single vineyard, small batch fermentation, followed by American oak treatment for 18months (40% new). Only the best of the best made it to the final blend, meaning that you, yes YOU Mofo, are only getting the very best.
You’d pay $70 full price.

1x Archery Road Bullseye Shiraz 2015
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
Here is one show-stopping, chart-topping shiraz that’s ready and roaring. While this is drinking perfectly now, do be warned - it’s quite the blockbuster! Handcrafted from the finest grapes of their Barossa vineyard, this does what we look for the most in these wines; rich, full-bodied and full of aromatic lift. Moroccan spices and dense black fruits such as blackberries and black cherry. All of course handled beautifully with high quality oak and supporting fine tannins. A blockbuster with a really great plot.
You’d pay $150 full price.

1x Hither & Yon Old Jarvie 'The Honorable' Shiraz 2018
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
In aroma, colour, and flavour, this wine serves it all at full intensity. A touch of mocha and bramble meet the black olive, licorice notes; this is the kind of shiraz that feels so moreish despite its full-bodied intensity. We're pretty stoked to have these lauded McLaren Vale producers on board, just in time for a Christmas treat like this one.
You’d pay $60 full price.

1x Dalwhinnie Moonambel Shiraz 2015
Red — Shiraz
Pyrenees — Australia
Blueberries and plums over vanilla, eucalypt, and sweet spice. Liquorice and fruit compote follow neatly, deftly behind the initial fruit burst. Among many things, this wine is further proof of the superiority of the Stelvin closure as opposed to cork for ageing cool climate reds. This is wine made with the cellar in mind. It is just now hitting its stride, and what a stride it is. The fruit is remarkably fresh, but no aged characteristics like leather, wet earth and game have been sacrificed whatsoever. The density of the fruit is framed by maturity without being swamped by it, and the wine is able to hold its form through a lasting finish.
You’d pay $95 full price.
