Peos Estate is a model of WA consistency. Year in and year out, they produce wines that shine with never a hair out of place. It certainly doesn’t hurt that 2018 was the best vintage for WA cabernet in a decade. This Four Kings cabernet sits more in the realm of medium-bodied with great varietal complexity and hints of chocolate, violet and cigar.

American Oak

Gapsted is an all-round King Valley favourite of ours. Their cab sav is a wonderfully medium bodied drop with complexity from 17 months in a mix of American and French oak. It has all of the oak-derived structure, vanilla and chocolate you could want, whilst the cabernet sauvignon brings bramble, blackcurrants and hints of thyme and bay leaf. Pop the oven on and get that lamb roasting cause this wine is sure gonna need something to pair with.

Mofo Fav

Sourced from a vineyard in the Skilly Valley of the Clare, this cab sav from Penna Lane is bright and fruit forward, with typical varietal flavours of blackcurrant and mint. A healthy dose of oak has added spice and vanilla as well. Clare reds aren’t as dense and dark as those of the Barossa, but they still pack a nice wallop without sacrificing any of the silkiness that has made the region a favourite of cab lovers.

It’s been a long time between drinks with the Richard Hamilton Hut Block cabernet, and it’s back years later as a newer vintage with a massive 96 points! The crisp, maritime climate of McLaren Vale provides the perfect terroir for the cabernet grape... as evidenced right here. Ripening during the day, the cool sea breeze helps to lock in the intense flavours. The result? A delicious and rich wine. Grippy, with well integrated oak, this cab is all juicy cassis fruit, plum and blackberries, cedar and waves of spice. Great length and amazing value.

From the sunny south coast of France comes this wickedly delightful cabernet. Deep, regal purple in colour, and intensely perfumed on the nose, this is strongly suggestive of place. Rich blackberries, tangy blueberries, violets, lavender and thyme give this cabernet a gutsy Mediterranean vibe, all warm days and evocative nights, giving a wonderful balance of richness and vibrancy. This is a wine you can afford to crack open whenever you feel like it. And it’ll be delicious every single time.
