We can’t get enough of the King of Grapes. From bright and elegantly textured to piledriver power and raucously rich, this Bordeaux native is equally capable of brilliance in a blend or all on its own. This pack offers you a selection of six cabernets, there’s something unique about each one and each offers its own journey of discovery. Bow down to the King!
Each case contains ONE bottle of:
Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Blackwood Valley, WA
Single Vineyard
Let’s make one thing very clear right from the get go, this WA cabernet is not for the faint of heart. You may even like to consider and A.F.D. before tucking in to this. It has enormous power and although in balance, expect the volume and bass upped as you relish in cedary oak, lifted eucalyptus and a rich, inky cassis/blackcurrant palate. Its age has started to kick in to gear with a deep and velvety texture backed by a dry, graphite finish leaving you wanting yet another sip or two. A wine of this power benefits from a decant or aerate just for a half an hour while you pop the dinner on.

Cabernet 2016
Orange, NSW
94pts James Halliday | 5 Red Star Halliday Winery | Small Batch Winery
It’s a quest every winemaker sets out to achieve, balance. It ain’t easy either. A cohesion between every element from sweetness, acidity, tannin, aromatics, weight and length; and when it’s achieved, it certainly is something to be celebrated. This flagship cabernet from NSW’s unsung hero, Orange, holds within it a boldness of savoury flavours coupled with enough breadth and elegance where subtlety is still the key. You’ll notice a wide range of characteristics as you get through a couple of glasses so don’t be afraid to pop this in the decanter and watch it develop over the evening, or afternoon if a Sunday roast is on the cards. Which, by the way, would be the perfect pairing.
YOU’D PAY $50 full price.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Margaret River, WA
Single Vineyard | Mofo Fave
What do you expect from a reserve Margaret River cabernet? Cassis and mint, cedar and bay leaf... check. Great cellar potential... check. You’d probably expect it to be quite delicious, too. Well, won’t let you down there either as it’s silky smooth with a long long finish. Plus it’s single vineyard fruit crafted by one of our faves in the region. Sorry to say that it’ll fall well short of expectations on price, though. It won’t cost nearly as much as you’d think - less than half, in all likelihood. Sorry about that… not.
YOU’D PAY $50 full price.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
McLaren Vale, SA
5 Star Halliday Rated Winery
Without a hint of spin, this seven year old cabernet has a decent innings left in it. A full century is doubtful but a good start is ensured thanks to Geoff’s deft touch. All the classic dark berry and blackcurrant that exude cabernet at large, plus distinctive espresso and black olive notes that scream McLaren Vale, despite there being a generous amount (45%) of Coonawarra cab in here. Rounded out with Mint Slice chocolate gives a very more-ish wine for any and every time cheese is on the table.
YOU’D PAY $40 full price.
Cabernet Blend 2013
Macedon Ranges, Victoria
94pts James Halliday | 94pts Patrick Eckel | 92pts Huon Hooke | 5 Red Star Halliday Rated Winery
We’re super excited to have this wine in, mofos. It’s from a real classic name producer. And the quality is there in spades. It’s a cool climate, so the wine’s far from jammy. But there’s rampant complexity and incredible elegance that’ll impress damn near everyone. Dark, aromatic herbs and cedar, blackcurrant and supple leather, a gentle breath of eucalupt and some fine coffee-ground tannins. Born in one of the best vintages in recent times, it’s had ample time in bottle to settle down, and now the stage is set for magic in your glass.
YOU’D PAY $35 full price.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Wrattonbully, SA
94pts Sam Kim | 5 Red Star Halliday Rated Winery
Ringing the absolute best out of Wrattonbully, this cabernet is the bees’ knees when it comes to bang for your buck. Expressive and concentrated with plenty of cassis and blackcurrant - there’s a lovely touch of leafiness sitting with background cedary oak and spice.
There’s only one thing on the menu - lamb. Whether it’s Greek gyros style, a middle eastern spiced backstrap or a good old fashioned Aussie leg roast, lamb is the key. Baa-ring it on!
YOU’D PAY $35 full price.
What is a Black Market Deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article, absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
