Black Market Mixed Case 67.0
- Mixed
- Various
Psst, you there! Yeah you! Stop looking around, you’re acting suspicious. You’re here for the Black Market wines, aren’t you? Yeah, that’s this box here. Don’t worry they’re all 100% legit, we’re just doing our winemaker mates a favour by not shouting their names from the rooftops. We don’t want to upset anyone, just cause we give you the best prices.
Each case contains TWO bottles of:
Shiraz 2017
Heathcote, VIC
94pts Sam Kim | 5 Stars Sam Kim | 5 Red Star Halliday Rated Winery
The grapes for this unmistakably Heathcote shiraz come from a prime selection of vineyards from across the region. It’s like they’ve taken elements from the body, and distilled them to capture the soul of the place. For me, these wines are all about cherries and brick dust. That’s here in spades. Plump, vibrant red fruits and dusty, savoury undertones make for something at once elegant and unpretentious.
YOU’D PAY $35 full price.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Margaret River, WA
Single Vineyard
Single vineyard Margaret River cabernet at this pricing? We try to stay humble here at the ‘Fo, but damn that’s a ridiculous deal! It sees nine months in French oak, providing a little lick of vanilla and cedar behind bright blackberry notes. This is a weekend wine at weekday prices, so you can feel good about drinking well with your Tuesday leftovers. Why compromise?
YOU’D PAY $35 full price.
Pinot Gris 2019
King Valley, VIC
Another year and we are yet again gobsmacked at the consistent value this pinot gris provides. Let’s just lay out the virtues; mature vines, fantastic high altitude vineyard site, thoughtful and precise winemaking and a low price tag. While you’re collecting your jaw from off the floor, let me tell you what all of the above contributes to the wine. We see an intense palate of fresh cut pear, green apple and subtle spice on the finish. It walks the tightrope of providing plenty of flavour while also being dry and crisp, right in the zone for Aussie gris.
YOU’D PAY $26 full price.
Chardonnay 2019
Yarra Valley, VIC
5 Star Halliday Rated Winery
A crowd favourite from the Yarra Valley, this revolutionary winemaker has been seen as a benchmark since the 90’s for his delicious chardonnay. Bursting with a bright approachability (much like its owner), this vino has a palate of grapefruit and lemon skins, with hints of cashew nut and oak followed by a youthful, lemon citrus finish in the mouth. Vegetarians rejoice, this drop pairs perfectly with some finger-licking veggies.
YOU’D PAY $24 full price.
Nero d’Avola 2019
Sicily, Italy
Nero d’Avola is without a doubt one of the jewels in the Sicilian winemaking crown. Light to medium bodied, bright, fresh and fruity, it’s laden with dark berries and spine-tingling spices. Sicily’s warm climate is tempered by both the Mediterranean Sea and the volcanic elevation, ensuring it never gets too hot and the grapes retain a lovely acidity. It’s absurdly easy-drinking. We warn you, a glass of this often spills over into a long, languorous antipasto lunch on a sun-drenched terrace. You may never get any work done again, but who cares when ‘la vita è così bella’?
YOU’D PAY $22 full price.
Soave 2019
Veneto, Italy
This is an absolute mofo favourite and is as good an expression of Soave Classico as any. We reckon you’ll struggle to find something of similar quality in a bottle shop for less than eighteen, and that’s on a good day. Plus, this wine is super versatile. Chill it right down and it’ll do the pinot grigio thing - fresh, crisp and easy drinking. Let it warm up and you’ll get all the peachy richness side of its spectrum, handling richer seafood and even chicken with aplomb. This is one of those wines you’ll find yourself reaching for, time and time again. Head of Buying at the ‘fo, John, reckons it’s up there with the best value buys of his ‘fo career. I’m not one to argue!
YOU’D PAY $22 full price.
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
