Why do we love this case?

Psst, you there! Yeah you! Stop looking around, you’re acting suspicious. You’re here for the Black Market wines, aren’t you? Yeah, that’s this box here. Don’t worry they’re all 100% legit, we’re just doing our winemaker mates a favour by not shouting their names from the rooftops. We don’t want to upset anyone, just cause we give you the best prices.

Each case contains TWO bottles of:

Riesling 2020

Clare Valley, SA

Single Vineyard

When we find a treasure that our mofos love, we keep going back for more. Here’s the third vintage of this Clare riesling that we’ve featured and the first two were a roaring success. It comes from one of the rising stars of the region and hits all the notes you’ve come to expect. It’s bursting with citrus, minerality and texture. Riesling from Clare is renowned for it’s bracing acid line carried forth with vivid fruit. This one delivers all that and then some. Load up the cellar before it’s gone!

Fumé Blanc 2016

Coonawarra, SA

5 Star Halliday Rated Winery

For those of you unfamiliar with Fumé Blanc, it’s simply a sauvignon blanc made in a style more commonly used in parts of France whereby the winemaking sees it go through some oak treatment, often some lees work too which brings about an array of deeper complexities and allows more graceful bottle age. Less ‘grassy and passionfuity’ (typical for a savvy bee) and more elegant, austere and restrained. Depending on the temperature of the wine, you can expect an array of subtle notes including that of lemon sherbert, orange blossom and pink grapefruit. A woodiness frames the fruit with a gorgeous unsweet honeycomb and melon pith finish. Honestly, this is such a complex and classy drop at a ridiculous price. It’s the best kind of ‘different’ you could ask for.

YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

Côtes du Rhône 2019

Rhône Valley, France

Made by the esteemed crew at Château Sixtine in the Southern Rhône comes a spicy mix of grenache, syrah and mourvedre. Ripe and juicy red-berry goodness, but not lacking in savoury notes and structure. Just what you’d expect from a producer of such calibre.

Chardonnay 2017

Yarra Valley, VIC

Firecracker Yarra fruit yields surprising complexity, with green apple, pithy grapefruit and a juicy slice of white peach making up the moreish fruit profile. Cool-climate-derived acidity provides freshness and a clean, crisp finish.

YOU’D PAY $24 full price.

Shiraz 2019

Langhorne Creek, SA

93pts Sam Kim | 91 pts Huon Hooke | Vegan Friendly

If you are a shiraz lover, keen on the generosity and flavour-power of the South Australian style... keep reading. This wine is from one of the leading (warmer) regions and a producer who really knows what they are doing in the vineyard and winery. It’s classic full-bodied shiraz with fruit aplenty - rich plums, dark cherries and fresh dates. The nose is full of spice, which continues on the palate, which is plush and full of soft smooth tannins.

YOU’D PAY $22 full price.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Great Southern, WA

90pts James Halliday | 5 Red Star Halliday Rated Winery | Killer Vintage

2016 was an exceptional vintage in Great Southern for red wines. The growing season began with a cool spring, and that coolness continued throughout the summer nights. That results in slow, gentle ripening, creating complexity and nuance in the wines. This 2016 cab sav, made by one of the region’s top producers, has herbaceousness and blueberries on the nose, along with cassis and pepper on the palate and fine tannins on the finish. There’s a lot going on in the bottle for a wine of this price.

YOU’D PAY $22 full price.

What is a Black Market Deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article, absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
