Is this the dawn of a new era? You’ve been to the Black Market, but you’ve never been BEYOND the Black Market. So buckle up, it’s time to go. We’ve got a box of wine here sporting a torrid 71% discount! Don’t worry they’re all 100% legit, we’re just doing our winemaker mates a favour by not shouting their names from the rooftops. We don’t want to upset anyone, just cause we give you the best prices.

Each case contains THREE bottles of the following:

Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

McLaren Vale, SA

Gold Medal China Wine & Spirits Award

The producer of this cab sav has sourced grapes from a few of their favourite vineyards across South Australia. The lion’s share hails from McLaren Vale, but there’s a bit of fruit from Langhorne and Wrattonbully in the mix. Each component adds something to the blend, and the finished wine is complex, rich and full of finesse. There’s toasty oak and blackberries on the nose with these carrying over to the palate and piled on top of black currant, herbaceousness and a finish of fine, lingering tannin.

Grenache 2018

Barossa Valley, SA

Single Vineyard

This wonderful grenache is from one of the best parts of Barossa, as you will see when it is unveiled. It is a wine that patience has rewarded, from old vines that were planted in the 1930s, bring intensity and complexity. It is a classic wine, brimming with fruit and after a year and a half in oak (all French), fruit and tannin are well integrated. That said, it’s still quite young so you’ll see lively fruit - plums, berries, blueberries - along with a real spiciness. I’m talking about sweet and punchy spices like liquorice and fennel. This vibrancy will mellow over the next few years and I’ve no doubt that it will just become more and more interesting.

Shiraz 2015

Yarra Valley, VIC

One of our favourite Yarra producers has sourced some pretty special fruit from a single block at Dixon’s Creek, a primo growing spot in the valley. They picked everything by hand, fully destemmed and did an open-vat ferment before laying the wine to rest in larger, mostly older French barrels for almost two years. This provides layering and complexity rather than big oaky influence. That layering and complexity brings about hints of fig, licorice, white pepper, dark chocolate, cherries and cinnamon. You don’t have to write a dissertation on everything going on here, but you certainly could. Our advice is to just crack it open and enjoy.

Merlot 2013

Wrattonbully, SA

5 Star Halliday Rated Winery

This producer is a Five Star Halliday Rated Winery, which means they are one of the best. They make wines across a few regions and this is their take on merlot from the small and premium region of Wrattonbully in SA. It’s a polished well-made wine that time has been kind to, with fruit mellowing and tertiary characteristics peaking through. It’s an easy-drinking, soft and approachable wine.

YOU’D PAY $35 full price.

What is a Black Market Deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article, absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
