You can’t fake this kind of fun and flavour. This rosé is one of only 18 illustrious Cru Classé estates internationally recognised as Provence’s best rosés. This particular pink is made from cinsault, grenache and syrah - it’s a super pretty wine with delicate wafts of fine perfume, tropical fruits, sage and rocky mineral notes. It’s moderate intensity, more a play on delicacy and finesse than power. It finishes peachy and plummy with a crisp citrus crunch. If you’re after a real deal pink drink from Provence, then this isn’t a wine to miss. It’s no coincidence that it’s pronounced “clap - YEAH!”.

“These guys are the first winery to setup in Paris, and have actually planted a vineyard in Paris… along the Champs d’Elysee… no, just kidding, it’s not there, because that would be very f*&king expensive wine, it’s obviously further out. Anyway, they bring fruit in from other regions, and make it in the city. It’s a couple of cool guys, check them out on Instagram, they’re doing some very cool stuff. Fancy bottle, Provence rosé, what more could you want?” What indeed, John.

Once you get past the Italian terms, you’ll find that this is as easy to understand as its label is cute. Complex enough, too. From nebbiolo grapes, this ‘chiaretto’ (read: pale rosé) leads with enticing whiffs of redcurrant, mince tart, mint, even doughnut. But it’s citrus-stonefruit fresh on the palate. Spicy and citric, a little creamy with a tweak of lime zest on the finish. No idea what Tinetta means but I imagine it means ‘cycle round to my place, I just got some more of that rosé you kept going on about’.

A really lovely strawberry rose-gold colour, this sings on the nose too. Stern, steely minerality meets raspberry and orange juice, laced with many a subtle herb. The palate is spicy, dry with just a touch of raspberry juice sweetness, but drawn out and food-worthy thanks to elegant cranberry-like acidity. Crunchy, fresh, complex and smashable. Eminently enjoyable whether you can pronounce blauer zweigelt or not.

Colour doesn’t normally get me, but this is a beautiful strawberry juice colour - vibrant, electric. Where Provencal rosés are light and pale, this has texture and character without going overboard into Strawberry Town. While there’s yellow peach and florals with a steely element, it also has a meaty, raspberry coulis note that could only be borne of red grape skins. Oh wait, just read the notes, and it’s a blend of pinot noir, gris and meunier. Phew, right for once. It’s fine and textural, with assertive acidity while maintaining a drying softness. The fruit and minerality follow through on the palate, with great length. Its beauty is in its subtlety. Campbell’s rosé of the year meets the hype with quiet confidence.

Betty’s Game Rosé glints enigmatically in the glass, an alluring electric copper colour. Seductive tangerine oil and orange blossom aromas hit your nose, with fleshy raspberry undertones. The palate’s pithy, almost sherbety. It’s filled with generous fresh redcurrant and crisp pink grapefruit flavour, plunging to earthy, chocolatey depths. Nebbiolo’s distinctive, Campari-like herbaceousness lifts it up again, only to be drawn out to a serious, savoury strawberry-balsamic finish. Its tannins allude to nebbiolo’s famous peacock tail, but in ethereal form; like an imprint of memory.
