95+ Point Selection 3.0

This is the summit, mofo. The ‘Best in Class’ of the wine world. Wines beloved by the experts and novices alike. The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanboys and girls who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
Each case contains ONE bottle of each of the following:

There’s so many wonders coming out of the Barossa, we’d be lying if we said we said we’ve explored them all. And we drink a lot (like, a lot) of wines from the region. This wine from Chateau Yaldara has somehow reinvented cab sav, giving it liveliness and personality while remaining true to that classic Barossa power. Brimming with gamey and dried herb character, and a finely tuned body. Fine, chalky tannins act as the silver platter on which this fine wine is served. Some olive and dark chocolate linger on the finish, with ripe plums aplenty. We wish we could drink this every day, but it is really one for the special occasions. Perhaps just the excuse we were looking for to gather friends and family around the table soon!

This is your archetypal rich and full-bodied Vale shiraz. III Associates know their target market, and their target market know them. So it’s packed with ripe purple fruit, sticks of vanilla and generous licks of coffee and caramel. Named for the Black Bay of Biscay Clay, the vines are grown in, which leads to small grapes of wonderful density. So no wonder the colour, flavour and all the things are dialled up in this wine. The wine spends a year in a combinations of French and American oak barrels - largely new - so there is tannin, notes of cedar and even more power. Lovers of no-holds-barred flavour unite!

Coming from the Dealer Team, chatting directly with mofos on the phone, this was without doubt one of the top 3 wines people asked for more of. It’s as intense, as complex, as high quality, as powerful as it is deeply, unendingly and immeasurably satisfying. A fanfare of Black Doris plum, blackberry, roasted nuts and spices, and super dark chocolate bursts onto the palate with the first sip. A cascade of supple tannin enhances the larger-than-life mouthfeel, with a bright flash of lively acidity to accompany. It’s sumptuous, opulent, decadent and however many other plush adjectives you care to throw at it. Plus it’ll cellar for a decade, easy. If you’ve not experienced it yet, you’re in for a wild ride!

This Haselgrove blend of 60/40 shiraz and cabernet is an absolute stunner. "A stunning offering" so says wine critic, Sam Kim. Sam tastes wines for a living so rest assured, he knows what's good. "The wine is stacked with blackberry, dark spice and cedar characters with hints of floral and dried herb notes. It’s powerful and opulent, displaying outstanding concentration and depth, together with velvety texture and firm tannins, ensuring its long, graceful development." Rated 96/100, taste a glass of this stunner and you'll see why.

We haven’t had a wine from Chilean producer Indómita since the 2015 vintage. Not sure why, it just kinda happened that way. But there’s nothing like a Gold medal and 96 point score from Decanter to remind you that it’s time to reignite that relationship! This 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and carménère (the unofficial national grape of Chile) is an absolute stunner. Carménère serves in the same role as merlot (some argue they are potentially the same genetically) in making what shapes up to be an exceptional Chilean take on a Bordeaux-style red blend. It’s dark, spicy, full of fruit, framed with structure, and given to an incredibly lengthy finish. Welcome back, Indómita!

Lovers of classic Vale shiraz will adore the Il Padrone! It’s big (but not pompously so), rich, round and offers loads of deep, inky goodness to get lost in. There’s plush, chewy berries with hints of peppery spice and leather that float intriguingly across the palate. Plums, blueberries and juicy black cherries dominate the fruit spectrum, in that inimitable Vale dark coffee-cake profile. It’ll get even more interesting in a few years’ time, but I doubt we'll be able to keep our hands off it until then around here.
