95+ Point Pack 20.0

This is the summit, mofo. The ‘Best in Class’ of the wine world. Wines beloved by the experts and novices alike. The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanboys and girls who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
12pk, each case contains TWO bottles of the following wines:
Shiraz 2015
Padthaway, SA
96pts Limestone Coast | Gold Medal Limestone Coast | Bronze Medal Australia & New Zealand Boutique Wine Show
This shiraz is an absolute POWERHOUSE! A powerhouse of bold shiraz flavour and a wine that our mofos just can’t get enough of, from a producer who has become a solid favourite in the last year or so. The wine is deep and rich on the nose, with plum and a touch of eucalypt. We suggest decanting to get most of these complex aromas. On the palate, it’s full-bodied with drive and all the berries and plums you could want. The wine has seen a bit of new oak, both French and American and shows vanilla and spice. Now five-years-old, the fruit and oak are well integrated and the tannins are fine and abundant.

Warramunda Estate has packed an enchanting wine into a beautiful bottle. The wine is appropriately labelled as syrah, a nod to the medium-bodied weight of the wine, the silky mouthfeel and a savouriness drawn from whole bunch pressing. The nose is of red fruits and roses and the palate carries pepper, spice and earthiness. If you are into cool climate shiraz, this is the complete package. Plus it’s crafted by Ben Haines, one of Victoria's top winemakers. What more could you ask for?

CW Wines gets straight to the point. They produce highly rated, high quality Coonawarra cab sav. It doesn’t need to be much more complicated than that. It’s concentrated on the palate with blackcurrant, plum, cedar box and a bit of gaminess. There’s a silkiness to the mouthfeel and super fine tannins to finish. If you’re into Coonawarra cab, then you know what you like. And we know you’ll like this.

A massive score from Decanter, no less. This is serious business. Rioja in its absolute prime. Deep, dark red-blooded fruit flavour jumps out of the glass at the merest swirl. Black cherry, plum, coffee cake, nuts, spices, tobacco and leather - it’s all there. Tannins are still vibrant, but unobtrusive, softened just enough by patient time in the cellar. Spain makes all sorts of wonderful wines, but there are reasons why Rioja is still king. Reasons like this.

Salomon estate, founded by Austrian (not Australian) Bert Salomon, has been put on the map by the incredible balance the wines strike between classic South Aussie flavour and distinctly European restraint. This shiraz cabernet could have been a huge, double shotgun-toting monster, with tannin to blow your face off. Instead, it’s lifted, juicy, lively, nuanced and textural. There’s complexity for days, and plenty of room to enhance it through a long stint in the cellar. Whether you’re an Old World fanatic, or die-hard true blue Aussie oenophile, there’s something for everyone to agree on here. It’s delicious, and bloody well made wine.

Cape Agulhas. Ever heard of it? Pop it into google maps and take a look at exactly where this drop hales from. You can’t get much more south of Africa than that. It’s where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet and you could certainly classify it as a maritime climate, cool enough to produce the elegant, lifted, lighter and peppery styles of shiraz. The Vinomofo buying team has been working hard to answer the calls of our members to get some more South African wine over here and we’re wrapped the day has finally arrived. The First Sighting shiraz is a safe place to start your South African wine journey and there’s plenty more where that came from when you’re ready to venture out and discover all they have to offer.
