Why do we love this case?

This is the summit, mofo. The ‘Best in Class’ of the wine world. Wines beloved by the experts and novices alike. The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanboys and girls who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.

12pk, each case contains TWO bottles of the following wines:

Shiraz Cabernet 2019

McLaren Vale, SA

95pts Sam Kim | 95pts Wine Showcase | Five Stars Sam Kim

It’s so SO popular with our thirsty mofo members. At its core, we have all the plush dark berries, plums and chocolatey goodness that you’d expect from Mclaren Vale. But the blend of cabernets is what lifts this drop way above entry level, firm tannins and a liveliness on the back palate provide wonderful length and serious structure; perfect to pair with your good old fashioned Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings.

Shiraz 2018

Barossa Valley

95pts Sam Kim | 94pts Wine Showcase | Gold Medal Wine Showcase | Five Stars Sam Kim | Single Vineyard | Boutique Producer

Big, ballsy, baronial Barossa shiraz. Power, riches and class are there in spades. Depth and complexity, too, but no nasty surprises. Just that winning formula that has made Barossa shiraz the national drink of Australia. From the lauded sub-region of Vine Vale, this beast was grown in sandy soils, producing a raucously ripe and powerfully plush profile that shiraz lovers across the country are sure to enjoy.

Shiraz 2016

South Australia

97pts Winestate | 5 Stars Winestate

Single vineyard shiraz wonder here. The vineyard is dry-grown, so nature is left with the reins in hand. We should know by now that it knows what it’s doing, too. This is bold and richly infused with flavour. Dark, juicy fruit, backed by coffee ground and vanilla pod from perfectly-judged oak treatment. It’s a ballsy wine, but it’s beautifully balanced and easy to drink in spite of the weight.

Montepulciano 2018

Adelaide Hills, SA

97pts Winestate | 5 Stars Winestate | Five Star Halliday Rated Winery

It’s a wonder why montepulciano is not a far more popular grape variety in Australia, especially with a deal of this magnitude, from a producer as trusted as this. ‘Monte’ is an italian grape, home to Abruzzo, just east of Rome. But it turns out the Adelaide Hills have superb conditions (above and below foot) conducive to a stella drop as well. Juicy red and black fruit frame a core of intriguing food friendly savoury notes of tobacco leaf, cooking spices and alluring crushed mint. The finish broadens to that of earthen vanilla alongside a silky ‘drink now’ texture. Although deep and dark in the glass, a medium body provides freshness and lift. It deserves every single one of it’s 97 points. So go on… you know you want to...

Shiraz 2015

Padthaway, SA

96pts Limestone Coast Wine Show 2019 | Gold Medal Limestone Coast Wine Show 2019

This shiraz is an absolute POWERHOUSE! A powerhouse of bold shiraz flavour and a wine that our mofos just can’t get enough of, from a producer who has become a solid favourite in the last year or so. The wine is deep and rich on the nose, with plum and a touch of eucalypt. We suggest decanting to get most of these complex aromas. On the palate, it’s full-bodied with drive and all the berries and plums you could want. The wine has seen a bit of new oak, both French and American and shows vanilla and spice. Now five-years-old, the fruit and oak are well integrated and the tannins are fine and abundant.

 YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

McLaren Vale, SA

95pts New World Wine Show | Gold Medal New World Wine Show

Vroom vroom! Start your engines - destination McLaren Vale. Although the region is not synonymous with cabernet sauvignon, it is known for its juicy, plush red wines and that’s what you find here.  All the dark berries and spiced plums - think cloves and nutmeg. Not too crazy-structured, but classic cabernet tannins! A wine to enjoy any day of the week.

 YOU’D PAY $22 full price.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
