95+ Point Lineup - Reds Edition 35.0
- Mixed
- Various
This is the summit, mofo. The ‘Best in Class’ of the wine world. Wines beloved by the experts and novices alike. The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanboys and girls who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 95 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
Each case contains TWO bottles of each of the following:

An extroverted red which refuses to back down, this wine is fragrant with dark forest fruits seducing the nose, while traces of mint and cedar oak add a twist of regional character. A torrent of ripe plum, dark berry and blackcurrant make their presence known on the palate - clearly dominating but steering clear of overwhelming the tastebuds. The finish is superb with great length and a dry finale. An outstanding example of how to balance power with restraint, and succeed - this magnificent cab shows others how it’s done.

- McLaren Vale
McLaren Vale shiraz, yes, but lithe and vibrant. A more medium-bodied feel leaves room for the lively fruit flavours to sing, unshackled from big, beefy, old-school styles. Classic brambly goodness skates on a fresh sheet of acidity, with just enough grippy tannin to keep it grounded. Miraculously food-friendly, there’s all the ingredients here for an infamous dinner party red. The kind you and your mates are liable to enjoy a wee bit too much of an evening.

- McLaren Vale
It’s safe to say this wine is a ‘shoe-in’. Multiple vintages of this exact vino have rushed into our warehouse and zoomed straight back out and to your front door faster than you can say ‘shiraz blended with cab sav and a splash of cab franc’. It’s so SO popular with our thirsty mofo members. At its core, we have all the plush dark berries, plums and chocolatey goodness that you’d expect from McLaren Vale. But the blend of cabernets is what lifts this drop way above entry level, firm tannins and a liveliness on the back palate provide wonderful length and serious structure; perfect to pair with your good old fashioned Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings.

Watkins' time in the industry goes way back. As evidenced by this cellar selection, they’ve honed the art of crafting wines that stand the test of time. This is an all-family affair, with the new generation stepping in to take the reigns. They’re finally releasing some beauties from their back vintages, and we were quick to jump in and bring our mofos that aged goodness. Cabernet off their currency creek vineyards gave this wine the confidence to see it through the last 6 years, with more still to come. This is the kind of wine that greets you like an old friend. Instantly familiar and merry, sure to entertain you for hours.

- South Africa
Well, we bet it’s not every day that you see a pinotage pop up. In fact, it’s only once in a blue moon that we see them! Beyond the fun, Willy Wonka-esque label, you’ll be greeted with a wine of equally playful intentions. It’s supple, with an intense depth of flavour. Jumping between fantastic florality, mocha and cherry aromas, you’ll struggle to be bored with this in the glass. And with 99pts from the South African Wine Index, it’s clearly got the local seal of approval.

- Heathcote
Is Heathcote the new shiraz kingdom? There’s only one way to find out. Try this beauty on for size. With 95 big ones from Halliday and a palate both equally powerful and silky, the fruits here are loaded with dark cherries, blackberry, and a red-earth note distinctive of Heathcote. With a touch of oak to balance the fruit, this is drinking beautifully. Victorian heritage shines brightly here, ready to pair with your BBQ in the sunshine, or a quiet night in.
