There’s no better time than right now to stay home (because that's our only option), finally try out those new recipes and chill with a glass (okay, a bottle!) of wine to make you feel like you’re on an Easter Staycation.

We asked Eddie, 'The Wine Guy', for his top five self-isolation picks on our website right now, that just might help us get through this period of the unknown, with at least a bit of a light buzz.

Kilikanoon Golden Hillside Shiraz 2018 - Red Wine

There are lots of great wines out there, new regions to explore, weird techniques and unheard of varieties, but when the world is abuzz with uncertainty and the unknown sometimes it’s nice to return to something solid and comforting. Up steps Aussie Shiraz. The original comfort wine. Light the fire and pour yourself a glass of this rich, soft and fruit filled fan favourite and feel the embrace of an old friend.

Pinot Noir 2019 – Black Market Deal #34016 - Red Wine

Tassie and great pinot, they have become synonymous with each other over the last couple of decades, and this wine is no exception. What we have here is elegance pure and simple, light but well defined red fruit, lovely balance and crunch acidity. Something to sip on and feel sophisticated while you rub your feet together in your slippers.

Pizzini Gusto Mama Sangiovese 2019 - Red Wine

I love sangiovese for one clear reason, it loves food, and I love food and such the triangle is complete. This example made by sangio saints, Pizzini Wines is such a great, yet easy going example. This will pair deliciously not only with all your Italian staples (yes, lasagne is the ultimate quarantine dish), but with a wide variety of other cuisines too. Pop this open mid week, chuck on some Pavarotti and travel somewhere else.

Leyda Reserva Pinot Noir 2019 - Red Wine

Yes, Chile makes incredible wine! And, yes, one of those varieties it's solidifying its reputation on is pinot noir. This has got just a little more skin on its bones that your typical pinot, that little bit of fruit weight and richness just gives this wine all the more versatility. In terms of bang for buck this pinot right here takes the cake!

Chardonnay 2018 – Black Market Deal #34059

I don’t know about you guys but this whole isolation thing sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve heard the term "Iso-blues" being bandied around and I think I've got the reminder here. Great chardonnay, so pour a glass, get into your favourite armchair and swirl vigorously. The fruit and oak flowing around your gob will make being stuck indoors all the more tolerable.
