Why do we love this case?
We see an absolute shed-load of Cab here at Vinomofo, literally. After countless tastings and plenty of robust debate, we've eventually settled on a line-up of wines that represent the highest-quality, most-awarded and, very importantly, most delicious Cabernet that we have access to right now!
1x Magarey Lane Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Cassis and red currant right up front. Tannins grip the gums and arrest the mouth before some round, smooth oak work offers relief. This is a prime example of Coonawarra's reliability in delivering regional and varietal typicity: fresh red and black fruits into more briary, developed, darker fruit tones, followed by coffee, chocolate, cedar, and fruit-leather. This is a drink-some-hold-some wine, it's looking brilliant right now, but we can't help but wonder what excellence a few years in the cellar may bring...

1x Gartner Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
This is a classy, beautifully structured Coonawarra Cab that punches way above its price tag. It rolls out those signature regional markers - blackcurrant, graphite, mint and fine tannins - all wrapped in a sleek, modern style. The 95pts from the critics isn’t a surprise once you taste the precision and polish in every sip. This is serious Cabernet pedigree without the premium attitude. Elegant, yet bold and built with intention, it’s the kind of Cab that keeps you coming back for more.

1x Reschke RSR Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
'That' Coonawarra cabernet - You know the one...
We’ve now seen many a ripper vintage of this baby but with two 96 point reviews, this one might take the cake. It’s one deal that flies out the door and into your kitchen. For those in the know, you’re never disappointed once you pull the cork. A cellar release with a few years of evolution - give it a burl, and you’ll see that it is only starting to touch its prime drinking window. Usually exclusive to the wine producer’s database, this trickles out to us only when we are lucky, somehow our charming wine buyers have managed to get on that lucky list. Boisterous tannins that have mellowed to a brooding, silky palate, with chunky fruit joined by herbaceous and somewhat meaty notes. There’s still classic cabernet cassis and blackberry, which is accompanied by rosemary, thyme and a long and savoury finish. Be quick, you too should be so lucky!

Tasting Notes
1x Greenock Creek High Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Barossa — Australia
From one of the most-adored wineries in the region - this is Barossa cabernet on steroids. Bold, structured and built to impress. Grown high on the ridgeline at around 340m above sea level (that’s some serious altitude for Barossa), this vineyard sits just a stone’s throw from some of the most iconic cabernet blocks in the country. It's intense, infinitely layered and absolutely oozing Barossan with character. Super-dense crimson in the glass, this thing looks as rich as it tastes. Stick your nose in and it’s a full sensory workout: blackcurrant, blackberry and raspberry, all laced with tobacco leaf, earth and a dash of fruitcake spice. There’s even a touch of eucalypt lift for that unmistakable Aussie charm. The palate is hyper-concentrated, structured and seriously seductive. Think crème de cassis, dark fruit pastilles, sage, liquorice and just enough savoury edge to keep it grounded. Sandy, chalky tannins hold everything in check, drawing it all out into a long, elegant finish that just keeps going.

1x School House Headmaster Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
We know that Coonawarra cabernet is sincerely age-able. That’s just part and parcel of this region’s charm. This School House cab shows the best of what the famed red clay has to offer, as it walks the tightrope between power and elegance with perfect poise. There are ripe dark fruits of plum and cassis, wrapped up in fine tannins and complimented by notes of toasty oak. It is intense, but also wonderfully balanced. We don’t need to say much more, because this is one wine that does most of the talking.

1x Katnook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2024
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Ok, deep breaths. This is happening! We're going to have to stay focussed for this one.. What a pleasure it is to taste such an iconic Coonawarra cabernet. This is a special occasion wine. Whether that occasion is this Friday night or your next big life-milestone, that’s up to you. What you can be assured of is this cabernet sauvignon is up for it and will rise to the grandest occasion. There isn’t much that’s been left out of this wine; the guest list of aromas and flavours reads like an oscars afterparty. The almost impenetrable deep purple colour is an early sign that it’s a heavy hitter that’s not afraid to swing the bat. It is built to go the distance so don’t be afraid to tuck it away in the back of your cellar. If you’re looking for something very special to enjoy in 10, 20 years plus then this has got the legs if you’ve got the patience. It’s ripe red berries, toasty oak and vanilla on the nose. It evolves with some time in the glass or better still, in a decanter - so plan ahead and give it plenty of time to unfurl. Throughout the length and breadth of the palate this wine’s complexity reveals itself in waves of mint, coffee, an array of ripe berries, cassis, cigar box characters and chocolate with a dollop of double cream, just for good measure.
